Instructor/Director - Mr. Lewis Rhodes
7th Year Running This Summer Camp
SCA is formerly WIRED Technology Summer Camp
What can I say? I'm a teacher, and I love design, drawing, and creative output.
I've been director/co-director of this summer camp for 7 years, and each year we adapt it to bring something NEW, and something DIFFERENT just like the technology that our kids are using.
I'm an Adobe and Microsoft certified technology instructor at Howard Bishop Middle School's Academy of Technology and Gifted Studies. There I teach 6th and 8th grade students computer applications that will give them competitive business skills.
My background has prepared me well. I have 17 years teaching experience in both elementary and middle school settings. I taught for 8 years at Talbot Elementary before accepting the opportunity to come to the HBMS Academy to teach technology. During that time, I have perfected my craft as both a technology teacher and a teacher of the gifted.
I hold the gifted endorsement, which means that I am certified by the State of Florida to provide quality instruction to gifted learners. I have had an additional 300 hours of coursework to prepare me to differentiate my instruction for divergent thinkers and accelerated students.

About the Summer Cartoon Academy

Summer Cartoon Academy is the evolution of the WIRED Techology Camp, founded by myself and a colleague Dr. Lisa Holmes.
For several years now a unique summer camp experience has been available to students interested in technology known as WIRED. This year, that experience is availabe as the SUMMER CARTOON ACADEMY. Offered by certified and expert educators with a passion for technology and a wealth of knowledge they're eager to share with bright young minds.
Each year the program offers select opportunities for your child to spend their time learning, exploring, and innovating. This year is no exception. The SUMMER CARTOON ACADEMY will be hosted at Howard Bishop Middle School for three one-week sessions. Each session will provide different skills, learning, and activities and challenges that are designed to foster creativity, innovation, and passion for computer education.
We hope you are excited about participating in the SUMMER CARTOON ACADEMY.
